Polands move is good news. After all they did vote FOR the UN resolution against Nazism so they have good cover to go knock down that Bandera statue. :) Putin wants this. He tried to restore Stalin's border by restoring Crimea. All of Europe had decided to live with Stakins border and Minsk II was last chance to preserve those. Once Russia is only one of two or three countries carving up a failed not-Z state that couldn't handle multiethnic tensions any way but genocide and calling separatists terrorists... Sanctions just fail. The problem for the West is that Germany may ask about getting Silesia back ! Since Poland got back Lvov.

So I guess we know what that "victorious new land" and "Christ's free land" are now! It's not Russian land in the east it's former Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Rumania land regained in the West

The most legitimate such claim is Romania's to coastal Bessarabia. And Moldova also. That country did nothing to deserve partition and it entered active alliance with Hitler only to restore itself. Poland by contrast had been actively suppressing Ukrainians in the between war years, as arguably they considered Ukrainians serfs and slaves from way back. This population in Lvov area was friendly to Hitler not for no reason! But they evolved in 1941-3 to full blown Nazi with Gallicia SS and in 1943-45 slaughtered 77,000 Poles in that region. So due to that there's some legitimacy to Poland's claim. Transcarpathia is different, Hungary lost it in WW1 and it was to go to Czechoslovakia only to guarantee its autonomy, Hungary when it retook it only deported Jews willfully to be exterminated then of course left when Stalin arrived. Ukrainian Orthodox abused Rusyn/Ruthenian people into giving up their distinct church and identity in Soviet times. So Slovakia of the three has best claim and Hungary least, maybe it just should be independent.

@azimny97 it's not invasion, Poland condemned Nazism , so it's liberation. Lviv was the center of Ukro-Nazis. Lvov won't be.
