Only under a legal secession agreement would there be any claim on the other successor states. The name on the contracts is "Ukraine". Not DPR or LPR or Russia or New Transcarpathian Autonomous Republic or Greater Poland.

Zaporozhye like Kherson would be insane to fight, tens of thousands of civilians would die. It's a sensible place that has always been multi-ethnic and peaceful, even in horrific times only invaders from outside broke the harmony. When it was a tiny village, my grandfather taught school there, in three languages: Ukrainian, Russian and Low German. His legacy there lasted for generations and I hope and pray it holds this one last time 99 years after he left. Please, Zaporozhia, do not fight. Cornelius Grunau would not want it. He would want you to stay together as a community and refuse orders to ethnically discriminate or kill each other. No Nazis, please, it would betray your whole history. Eject any who demand that you fight. Make clear to the Russians that you expect autonomy and to be treated as full citizens of whatever state emerges, not as prisoners or hostages.
