  1.  @Yuri_Rus  I'd say Poland's arrogant closing of Danzig. Hitler tried to negotiate that for a full year but a few months in realized it was futile and signed Molotov Ribbentrop. Those few months were the last chance for peace. Poland like Finland took UK guarantees of security and both paid VERY dearly for defying quite limited USSR and German demands.

  6. 26:12 "parity" is nowhere near enough troops to gain ground against an enemy that's held that ground for months now. Every building north of Dneipr is at least a machine gun nest with a mortar team on the roof. You can't take that without at least 6-10x the troops. Think D-Day. THEN you have to cross Dnipr! Which I am sure has Russian subs in it...

  9. Experienced commandos are impossible to replace. Ukraine would definitely send it's best remaining troops on this mission, and the odds of success are incredibly low. So it's a reasonable roll of the dice to let them attack along a front where you withdraw and trap them, killing them all. Like, Ukraines entire ability to launch such point raids might disappear. Remember, Russia will soon control all the power plants, all the dangerous factories...they don't want hundreds of Ukraine -loyal commandos alive to join CIA-trained "ROC" terrorist units.

  11.  @franksmith417  it need not take it by force, it can offer Odessa a "free city" status with total withdrawal of military forces. Else civilians will be at risk in an effectively unlimited asymmetric warfare. Remember there is a substantial Russian presence in Transnistria. And Odessa has a Russian Orthodox population too. It will not be difficult to find agents in either.

  12. Yeah the IAEA has been cowed since Ritter. But Russia figures there's not ZERO chance of another Ritter, so let IAEA in. And being shelled by Nazis kind of changes your view of who the bad guys are, so IAEA is harder to use as a Nazi weapon.

But if NATO soldiers enter Ukraine they will be killed & Russia will accept African, North Korean, Cuban and Nicaraguan frontline troops with a license to kill "colonizers". Maybe even from India, Muslim nations other than Syria, and reflagged Chinese troops that want battle experience.
