  1. 8:12 agreed, anyone still in Mariupol who is armed was at least a sympathizer with Azov Battalion. Else they would have left in disgust long ago. Some regular Ukraine military were reportedly shooting at Azov Battalion when Azov shot at civilians escaping. Here's hoping that every single Azov grave becomes a public toilet.

  2.  @dirremoire  I didn't say not to obey the laws of war. Russia should do so strictly. But there is no law of war that permits armed combatants to shift to civvies and sneak out. Either Azov surrenders AFTER sending out every single civilian hostage unharmed or Russia gets to kill every last one. I don't have to sanction the policy but Russia does in hostage situations accept a high casualty rate among hostages even if those are Russians. They stormed a theater in Moscow to end such a standoff. By contrast the US lets an infinite amount of Yemenis or Iraqis die, but no Americans. The world notices this rule. And the world respects Russia more for having closer to the same rules for its own nationals vs those of other nations.

  4. 9:33 Ukrainian civilians there do NOT want Ukraine to retake Kherson. No way. Right now Kherson is held by Russia's most "Canadian" type troops. Tough but in full self control and capable of nonlethal crowd control. The troops near there dispersed Zaparozhia protesters using nonlethal weapons. I don't think any of the Chechens in Mariupol has any such. And it's the Chechens, Syrians, Dagestanis and most psycho gulag born troops that will be transferred from Mariupol to Kherson if there is any serious push from Mykolaiv towards Kherson. Plus it's hard to cross the Dneipr.

  5. Watch France diplomacy very carefully esp with Finland, Sweden, Hungary and Turkey. You might see a grand deal soon that gives Turkey the closer EU affiliation that it wants, in exchange for Montreaux tweaks and an EU-only no-UK no-USA defense pact.

  18. Well it's not a "cold war of democracies versus autocracies" as some say, as long as India, the world's largest democracy, is aligning with Eurasia. I'm watching France election and diplomacy with India and Turkey. My present assessment is that USA is being excluded from Eurasia. It sanctioned itself. India, China & Russia will unite in this. What stands between India and China is Tibet & hosting Tibetan government in exile. Their border dispute is nothing really. What stands between India & Russia is nothing whatsoever. The integration of the digital yuan, ruble, rupee backed by the immense resource base of Russia, labour base of India and China, creativity of India, infrastructure discipline of China, is no small thing. Iran, Pakistan, and to some degree the Arab world and Turkey, see this as relatively attractive. Turkey closing the Black Sea to NATO, Saudi and UAE ignoring Biden, these are early signs of this new order. Re finances, this is an age of money laundering, commodity swaps, crypto. USA has very profoundly miscalculated it's leverage. Barring US$/SWIFT trade gives every nation that wants rid of it, the perfect excuse to be finally rid of it. The world's largest democracy has outvoted the West. It's going to go with its long standing ally not the Azov Battalion. France imho will very shortly be joining India btw. It can't afford all of Eastern Europe becoming Yugoslavia. Americans really struggle to see how France gets to decide so much stuff. But they do. It's France who decides who is sovereign over what land, historically. Swing vote on the UNSC, diplomats who can swing Africa, and assassins with some skill. Watch the French election very carefully, Americans... French diplomacy also understands the Mariupol and Donbas type of situation. France and Russia were both occupied by Nazis. Actual, SS-glorifying, Hitler-and-Bandera-following, Roma-killing, Russian-genociding Nazis. Who always back to 1933 had a few Jewish and gay dupes. But never Roma nor Russians. Nazism is more defined by hostility to Russia & Russian Orthodox Church, Roma people, than it is by any other characteristic. Hitler actually said he admired Jews and considered them rivals. Roma & Russians are subhumans to Nazis including the Azov, C14, Aidar, SS... Also France is well aware of the historical toxicity of Ukranian nationalism which for a hundred years has been defined by a Nazi-LIKE rejection of Moscow & Russia even when there is no credible alternative... pointless antagonism like banning Russian language. And also France knows the Polish vs Ukranian rivalry in Gallacia, the Transcarpathia situation. Refugees aren't a stable situation and may lead to land claims eastward by Poland, Hungary and even Romania (to "save" Moldova). France knows the Clinton/Schiff/Blinken plan to arm Nazis to weaken Russia is simply insane. It will turn Warsaw to Kharkiv to Odesa into Yugoslavia ... Finally Paris was once occupied by Russia and Moscow was once occupied by France. Neither stayed long. Nor will they ever. They know they are different. So Macron and Le Pen -- for once the two best options! - are waiting to spring that EU-only defense pact and that no-US-imports fossil replacing plan, in the second round. Whereas the US is stuck promoting Melanchon. The US screwing France in the Australia nuclear deal is going to be viewed also as the biggest mistake ever for the US MIC. It will be French arms in Eurasia not USA... Oh and France may finally back the proposal for India to get a UNSC veto and for the veto to change to two votes. France never uses its veto alone anyway, and the two great democracies of Eurasia have much to agree on. And I don't think Turkey will be letting anyone into the Black Sea except to keep it a Russo-Turkish lake.
