  1. The 32 Bit 68020 Motorola chip is newer than the Gepard itself. The 68020 was released in 1984, the Gepard got into production in 1973. The fire control system was therefore later modernized, in which it then received this 68020.

  2.  @АнатолийМурзин-с9д  Because no one expected: 1. That there could be a threat in a symmetrical war against a comparable opponent in Europe. 2. That this system might be useful against drones, because the ammunition is cheaper than anti-aircraft missiles. and 3. Then there is basically a modern replacement called the Mantis weapon system. Mantis does only have to be put on a Boxer chassis so that it is mobile. The whole thing is called Oerlikon Skyranger and i would assume, that Germany is ordering such a system for the Bundeswehr in the near future. It would at least make sense.
