I have a question about this Demon Core event. Would it have helped if they cut off his right arm? Only his torso and right arm were exposed to the radiation. His legs were protected behind this lead wall.

I've seen all three. I still like "The day after" best. But the main reason for that is probably that English isn't my first language and it's difficult to follow the emotion of such films when you have to figure out what they're saying all the time. So testament and threads have never drawn me in as much as "The Day After." "The day after" was dubbed in my language, the others weren't.

@DarkJediPrincess He's a nuclear engineer, not a nuclear physics! And i have my information from a very reliable source and the logic on my side. My answer is to be seen in relation to a nuclear reactor. That is my point and a nuclear reactor contains more fissile material than an atomic bomb and the time in which fission products and its decay products including cesium-137 and stontrium-90 can be produced is much longer, thus they contain much more of that stuff over time. The Chernobyl reactor accident compared to atomic bomb tests also confirms this. I stand correct. If you don't want to believe it, that's your problem, you had your chance.

@Canada_Dominium I am not lying, you do not listen! Your claim is, nuclear bombs do produce much more CS-137 than nuclear reactors. And this claim is nowhere in literature. And I never said nuclear explosions would not release CS-137 at all, I said they release very small amounts compared to nuclear reactors and that statement is true and backed up by literature.

@logicplague Hmm, but his entire body only received the dose when the lead wall offered no protection. However, if the lead wall offers sufficient protection, only his upper body and right arm should have received the dose.

Getting rid of nuclear fuel by producing energy in a nuclear reactor is the best thing you can do. Without nuclear fuel, you can't produce nuclear bombs.

You could ask a metal fabricator to make you two hemispheres out of aluminum. If the two halves of the sphere should also feel heavy, then they should be hollow on the inside and then filled with lead.

No it is not. The point is, how do you find out where exactly Ground Zero is? It's the same question that made you want to find the best place to get away from it. If you plan on dying at ground zero when the bomb falls, the risks are high that you won't get close enough and survive the bombing. Only to suffer very badly from radiation sickness for the next few weeks until death finally occurs. My conclusion is: If we know it is happening, getting into a nuclear bunker as soon as possible is the best option available in time. Provided, of course, that a suitable bunker is available.
