  1. The X5 is what 5 series used to be. An executive level vehicle. Even its base engine is perfect (the straight six turbo, in fact I recommend it as the BMW V8s are problematic). While the 5 series has gone downmarket with the 2.0 lawn mower turbos, the X5 has stayed true to BMW roots with superb base engines. The new one is still sporty, beautiful, luxurious, and fast. Probably should still be leased, as should all BMWs, but a fun fantastic luxury SUV nevertheless that is recommended ahead of Porsche or Mercedes mid-sizers.
