@TaiViinikka very well said, In the case of GM, they already killed their prior electric car (EV1) once. They even just killed their hybrid (Volt). I think one thing mainline auto manufacturers don't get is no one associates an Audi, or a Mercedes or a BMW or Ford or Toyota with electric. If I were them, I make a new brand and then lump every electric car under it. For example, Ford could come up with a Edison brand. Then they can have Edison sedan, coupe, SUV, truck. Until then, the snob appeal of a Tesla wins every day. People know what Tesla stands for. What does Audi eTron stand for? It is still a Audi. And it goes back to your point, mainline manufacturers are still hesitant to lose profitability of their ICE vehicles. Meantime, Tesla is killing it.
