In a society where people only think about themselves, marriages are not respected, for example. They are just a title people carry because none respect it. The wife is only with the husband until he gets tired of her and finds a younger, prettier, fertile version of her. She's just a commodity, nothing else. Other women and men will be on the look to get between the married couple. The men for a chance to have casual sex with the wife (sometimes married men) for lust and bragging rights or even steal her from the husband. The women (sometimes married) will try to compete for the husband attention and validation if he's good-looking or even steal the husband for themselves. A society with no morals is the perfect embodiment of the old say: "No honour among thieves ."
