@Shmimbleton inheritance tax isn’t the issue, it’s the lack of profitability in farming that’s the problem, mainly caused by a lack of subsidy. This is the wrong hill for farmers to die on, they are just used to centuries of entitlement.

@RossTheNinja the problem with farming is the lack of profitability, it is not finally being brought partially in line with every other business in the UK. And yes, they still get preferential treatment.

@royboy565 it will rise to 7% because of inflation and they will not raise the threshold in line with it, it doesn’t mean people are getting richer in terms of buying power.

@ExplorewithSarahlouise farmers can stop being entitled and start being part of the dam country. They still get a better deal than anyone else. Only a tiny fraction of farm land owners (many are not farmers) will need to pay, and they will own the largest areas.

@user-py2mf3nb8g remoaner? No this is brexit tears the farmers are again shedding. You must be properly dim if you think it’s not the big elephant in the room. EU Subsidies was the only thing making many farms profitable.
