@StuartNevin-ip1wg countries are not a business, businesses don’t run defence, the courts or policing. They can create money out of thin air so don’t need to make money. They don’t need to turn a profit. Most countries retain responsibility for natural monopolies and do not privatise them.

@janicebirch7522 the global financial crisis was perdominatly caused by by the US sub prime mortgage market. The actual crash was caused by TCI, an asset management fund which Rushi Sunak was a partner. The Labour UK government was key in defining the global response which contained the worst effects. Between 2008 and 2010, the economy was recovering until the austerity measures were implement under the conservative lead coalition.

@markstevens6568 Ed Milliband has a fair bit of experience in government. Maybe he slipped you mind?

@anonnemo2504 a country is inherently not a business, both has similar needs, a strong bureaucracy for example, but the goals are fundamentally different.
