He doesn’t have a majority in the Lords (ie a controlling number of seats). There are 278 Tory Peers out of 790 sitting Peers.

@darrennandrewfitness2836 you are wrong about the Tories having a majority. They are the largest group, but they do not have a majority in the sense it’s commonly used in the commons (a controlling majority). This means they just have a plurality as the OP said. The largest three groupings are (largest first): Tory, Cross bencher, Labour.

@csharpe5787 it’s not splitting hairs, they don’t have a commanding majority like they do in the commons. To say anything else is a lie worthy of a Tory.
