@Lee-nv2rg no, the point is the current government do not like protests at all, particularly as they are busy dismantling many freedoms and planning more. Jacob Rees Mogg ( the now business secretary) was setting his sights on Holiday pay only recently. On this specific point we are expected to be deferential because we were born lower than her. Know our place and not rock the boat. The tens days morning is to allow the entrenchment of the new monarch, not just to mourn.

So the right to protest is contextual? So only the acceptable view is allowed? So you are really supporting free speech are you.
2
I’m generally amazed to, shows how right wing the beeb has become
2
It was targeted at the current King (and his dubious brother), not the Former Queen.
2
@Lee-nv2rg no one likely to protest will be allowed at the funeral
2
He’s the head of state. Ultimately, all politicians have to make an oath (religious version) or attestation (secular version) to serve them. So yes, they are accountable for these things.
2
I believe the comments have been directed at the new King (and his dubious brother). He is a perfectly legitimate political target on every day he is king.
1
@ToothbrushMan yes, the phrase “not my king” was directed at the person that is king.
1
You realise that, while it’s a funeral procession, it was also the first public engagement of the new King / head of state? The protests were targeted at him rather than the former queen. I’m not sure why you think it was the funeral, normal people won’t be attending that. It will be reserved for our “betters”.
1
@ToothbrushMan unless it’s changing legislation for a favourable tax position.
1
And Charles has repeatedly made political comments throughout his life.
1
@ToothbrushMan them you are mistaken. The queen did get involved in politics regarding her tax position. It is a matter of public record. Repeating a false assertion doesn’t invalidate a fact.
1
@ToothbrushMan amending government legislation is inherently being political. We obviously aren’t going to agree on this.
1
@ToothbrushMan sorry, please research your opinions
1
Also Charles has just put around 100 staff on notice during the funeral. I suppose this is acceptable too?
1
@ToothbrushMan apparently during a head of states funeral is the proper forum to make loyal staff redundant. But not to protest?
1
@ToothbrushMan sorry I used your terminology from your OP. You referred to the protests occurring during the funeral which obviously isn’t until Monday. Would funeral procession or national mourning period be a better terms? Obviously most, if not all the staff, where back at Clarence House. I’ve not seen it stated in the few media outlets that any staff accompanying him were affected. Silly me, but you are obfuscating, is it acceptable to make long serving staff, working for the royal family redundant during this period what ever it’s called? I mean, they can’t argue cost necessitated the swift decision to mothball Clarence House as Charles just inherited a massive tax free private fortune, and he was wealthy already. They could easily have deferred this discussion on Clarence House until after the funeral or the conclusion of the morning period.
1
@stuartparker6838 yes, they are crown servants. So they now work for the king.
1
Provided you don’t hold bits of card or say anything yes
1
In your opinion, in a free society, others are able to have there own too.
1
@danmayberry1185 the main issue is do we have a right to protest in this country. It seems not considering how tame and nonviolent the protests were and the fact arrests were made. Weather you agree it’s the right time to protests is irrelevant if we now can’t.
1
@twisteddancer7773 it’s not about you. Why are you upset? It was clearly directed at the monarch (except the guy targeting Andrew). Are you King Charles III in disguise?
1
When I was a serving Constable the human rights act made me personally, and the constabulary liable for contravening freedom of association and expression without significant cause. Odd the Tories want that repealed.
1
@nigelknight6688 depends what they have done, arrested for peaceful? protest no, they shouldn’t be arrested. No one should be arrested for peaceful protest.
1
@nigelknight6688 why, respect? They (the royals) represent everything wrong with this country. Lack of democracy, lack of meritocracy, vested interests, deference. If they want a private life and death, they can become private citizens (as opposed to subjects). As protests go, these were tame.
1
@Lee-nv2rg I respect you opinion 👍. Disagree on this but support your right to have it

As do all police constables
