  2. Based on the official figures, All the royal palaces combined got around the same number of tourists as the Louvre (3.8 million) in their best year ever. They get between half and a third of the number of visitors the palace of Versailles attracts. Basically, they are closed too much as the royals live there. So getting rid of the monarchy would allow more time for the palaces to be open and drive up tourism.
