Not at the expense of our democracy. The right to protest is far and away more important.

@adamflint2060 oddly, as a former police constable myself, I’m not sure I agree with a constable arresting a victim of crime.

It’s generally called a republican movement. Not sure why the phrase is now getting dumbed down.

It could be argued that the idea is disrespectful when people claim this country is a meritocracy. She was the unelected head of state, she decided to die in post after not being able to fulfil the full role of the monarch for many years. She’s not just an ordinary private or public figure. Her son is now the unelected head of state, and is therefore a legitimate target of protest.

@DaniStarEngland breach of the (kings) peace from the common law that’s not used in England and Wales as it was superseded by statutory instruments. The human rights act is supposed to protect non violent political expression from the government, hence the Tories want it gone, and covers the whole UK. It was introduced after a number of cases where the bill of rights was shown to be inadequate.

@lioneljaftha3473 what has this to do with Brexit? Btw, these were nonviolent protests, that’s why people are angry.

@securitydesk6309 the policy of removing rights to protest is anti democratic

@adamflint2060 one of the guys protesting did appear to be assaulted in sight of the constable that arrested him. It doesn’t mean they saw what happened based on line of sight, but it does appear off at a first glance.

@VectorTracker odd opinion. The general idea is that we become more democratic with an elected head of state. Even better if it can maybe help promote a meritocracy. It’s probably also good thing for the family who like zoo animals, and just because the accident of their birth, live in a guilded cage line with parabolic lenses.

@VectorTracker yes, it needs significant improvement. Best to start at the top
1
@urmum3773 sorry, but you are the pawn serving the unelected elites. Break hereditary power. Bring back right to protest.
1
@urmum3773 eh? I don’t understand. So you want to bring down a government and political system using the masses but leave the most egregious example of establishment entitlement in place? Your not a very good revolutionary…
1
@urmum3773 god has no place in governance. Enough wars and executions have been enacted in the name of that terrible excuse. Goodbye

@VectorTracker first up, we are subjects not citizens. And we pay to support there family. We pay to use land owned by the family which should be he peoples (E.g. wind farms). Don’t you think as a principle all people should be equal?

When is the right time? The best time is during transitions which is why they die in post. Even after not being able to discharge the duties of state effectively for years.

Arrested means a police constable said “I arrest you”. And the person has temporarily been deprived of liberty. At least one protested was cuffed, which is a use of force for which the officer would need to be prepared to justify in court. It seems excessive for nonviolent / non drug crimes
1
@snakeplissken526 how can you privately protest? Seems contradictory. Privately protesting just seems to be called thinking.
