  1. He would be better than Reeves, and seems to care about normal people, particularly the poor. But he is neoliberal and was a creator of, and advocate for quantitative easing. He would have similar policies.

  3. Thorsten Bell was given a cabinet brief yesterday. He’s got experience of working in the treasury too. Also a neoliberal, but at least with a focus on helping people other than the super wealthy.

  4.  @bernieburrows3731 taxes remove money from the system to prevent inflation. They are also used to encourage policy actions (e.g. investment in green tech) and discourage negative actions (e.g. smoking, wealth hoarding). MMT isn’t particularly controversial at a description of how money works. The controversy is more about how much MMT can be used in an unbalanced books way.
