@love__and__hope__ It’s more to do with who’s ancestors were better robbers. Most rich people are thick as mince in my experience. Academics are poorly paid, so your argument there is a link between brains and wealth is incorrect.

Corporations, bankers, and billionaires took it. It’s called end stage capitalism for a reason. The only reason the poor are surviving now is because of what little social democratic programmes still exist.

No thanks

@love__and__hope__ I thought as much. I completely and utterly disagree with this position, It’s a terrible system that’s is demeaning and wastes a lot of talent. A minimum standard of education is required to make a worthwhile informed citizen who can critically analyse information, manage finances, and be successfully in whatever role they are best suited too. You can’t get this leaving school at ten.

No such thing as a free society. We prohibit things not good for the wider society, and given the problems associated with public schooling both for the wider population, and the kids who lived in misery at them, it would be better to be rid of them.

Public schools are just a way of reinforcing the class/wealth divide. It would be better of the rich to meet the poor at some point in there life. They might learn a little empathy.

@WH-hi5ew well said 👍

@LawrieAndCo that’s was a short and pointless statement. Supply and demand would still matter, as would preference and need.

The solution to any problem you ever have is never Mrs Truss

@peters6188 utter rubbish. Growth needs a consumer class spending money on goods and services, not making people who horde a mass of unproductive wealth more wealthy. Also, borrowing for tax cuts was never going to fly.

The main problem is the net works and “old school tie” issues. It’s also the complete lack of competence that we have seen in politics for the last 16 years with a bunch of public schoolers.

@WH-hi5ew it’s the kind of thinking that creates caste/class systems tbh.
