The Right lie about the asylum process and claim the process is a loophole in the law, and instead of fixing the process by creating more immigration courts to process asylum faster. The unilaterally undermine the law and cause a crisis that we have now, in the Rights arrogance. Our asylum laws had been the same for over 40 years, and border crossings were in decline for over a decade to the lowest point in 50 years before Trump and his immoral policies. After his policy, southern border crossing doubled in 2019 to 977,00 the highest in two decades. Title 42 that republicans forced into place suspended most title 8 authority and removed the ability to request asylum for 5 years. it also removed the legal deterrent in 8 USC 1325 and 1326. making it so that immigrants who crossed between check points were placed into expedited removal; and free to recorss as many times as they wanted without penalty. Do your research the right has caused most of this issue and have done nothing to secure the border. They just make it worse and blame the left for their failed policies.

§1158. Asylum (a) Authority to apply for asylum (1) In general Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien's status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title. This is the Rights open border policy that they want to stop.

@imperialmotoring3789 I'm not, I'm demanding that Republicans stop undermining our laws and follow the ones that are on place. The ones you have never read.

Title 42 suspended title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right was using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspended 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border after deportation That left out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stopped legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement many immigrants re-crossed multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns was about 40% of border crossers.

Sound most like what Trumps supporters do on a regular basis. Try looking at how the Right unilaterally Undermined immigration laws for the past 5 years causing a border crisis and now manipulate its base by transferring blame to trigger more hate, because the base is clueless of our laws and full of hate. The only difference is you overburden our citizens with high deficits that have to be reduced by tax revenue. And you use God as a tool while you have not lost but put aside and disregarded your moral compass.

@ScoobiesDoobies369 Do you have the ability to be informed and understand hat your eyes are seeing, without your puppet masters building false narratives for you?

@cjmuniz12 Who voted for Trump and Republicans to unilaterally undermine 40 year old immigration laws to fit a Right wing agenda to stop legal asylum? Causing a backlog and overwhelmed border patrol and causing an open border.

@hms19018 US code says it's a federal misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty read it. It also says asylum seekers can not be penalized for crossing the border of a safe haven country, read it.

Under Trumps hard line policies that were undermining legal immigration, yes it was easier and suggested to cross between check points. They had a greater chance of getting their asylum claim heard. Think how much better it would be if he had worked to improve the process at check points and did not cut off immigration for several years and remove our legal deterrents.
1
@hms19018 yes I've actually read the law and I know the process of how to determine if an immigrant qualify and you don't. No where in that law does it say anything about using Right wing rhetoric to assume all asylum claims are invalid without being heard we have asylum laws that were being undermined by the Trump administration. We now have asylum laws that are being followed. Trumps way got us the border we have now.
1
@imperialmotoring3789 the Right is demanding we change the law to suit them, without going through congress. And violating our laws and constitution.

@25oxendine Border crossings increased to a record high under Trump prior to covid after a decade of border crossing reduction. Covid slowed it to a trickle, by October of we were at record levels again for months before Biden took office. Trumps policies were a complete failure.

@lukelogan8539 The Wall was a rally call and not a realistic plan. That is why informed Republicans who were fiscally responsible, you call RINO's, would not support the funding when Trump held majorities in both houses of congress. We needed some border security to funnel people to check points and maximize use of border agents, but we were in more need of immigration courts, electronic surveillance, and bipartisan immigration reform from congress. The Right rejected that, and decided to bypass congress and just ignore our immigration laws and push their own agenda. Now here we are.

@Indiansareallpajeets We do to continue to increase falling US population growth. That's a hard pill to swallow as it seems far too populated for me, but we need a future working force.

@treasureseeker8489 Hard to enforce title 8, when the Right keeps unilaterally undermining title 8 with their policies and title 42. L-E-A-R-N W-H-A-T I-S G-O-I-N-G O-N!?$#
