@informedtraveler3014 Biden's promise was to correct back to the law. Trump was violating several asylum laws in an effort to restrict and reduce legal immigration prior to the covid. The claim the Right continues to make about Biden telling them to come, came from a debate from 13 months ago. It was not the catalyst for what's happening now. it was a narrative to build on while right wing media ignored Trumps violation of immigration laws that caused this surge to begin at least 6 months ago. @informedtraveler3014 Biden has been in office for less then 100 days to deal with Trumps mess that yes I can easily direct to Trumps policies. Trump was in office for two years before his surge or 977,000, the highest apprehension in 20 years. Where was the fake outrage from the Right?

Trumps policies were stopped by federal courts and are clear violations of the law. Biden is catering to the demand of the law. What you are saying is what I've bern saying all along. The Right does not care about the law or constitutional protections, when it comes to rhetoric of fear and hate of immigrants.

@informedtraveler3014 most of the reporting happened during Trump because he was violating immigration laws. Biden is just correcting back to the law and thus is the pain from the bubble created by Trumps policies.

@informedtraveler3014 he didn't bring back catch and release. There is no catch and release its a right wing talking point that is an overused term. It refers to the actual law that requires the US to keep asylum seekers in country while waiting for their hearing. It was never removed Trump just wasn't using it, because Trump made a lot if unilateral decisions that were a departure of immigration law. When a person request asylum we are reqired to detain them in country if they have had a interview with an asylum agent and a creditable fear claim is being allowed. That's 8 US code 1158 reaction 235(b)(1)(b), if I remember correctly.

@informedtraveler3014 no secure border are not violating immigration laws. Trumps illegal policies were not securing the border at all. They just made it worse. Where did you see a secure border under Trump who had 977,000 apprehensions in 2019 during his surge when there was no fake outrage from the Right?

@alibbaba9473 Trumps zero tolerance was a violation of the law and removed in federal court. The courts did not rule on the legality of remain in Mexico they only ruled against the procedure in how it was removed. All they have to do is change that procedure. It's still a violation of Asylum law.
