@DanielCohu Name a federal immigration law and the statute number you have read that is already in place, that this administrastion is not enforcing.

@paulaharvey1171 while you support policies that have created this crisis. Good job.

Might be easier to just not undermine our laws. Title 42 suspended title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right was using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border. That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers. We had a 17 year decline in southern border crossing to the lowest point in 50 years prior to Trump and his polices. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the southern border to 977,000. He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 due to covid, before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.

@LoveyK Yeah unfortunatly I have not seen many who have either.

@H43339 Just because they cross, doesn't mean they get to stay. Stop with the false narratives that use no critical thinking.

Due to false claims of voter fraud, false claims of asylee’s not showing up for court, criminal activity, and just right wing claims used to breed hate. The Right has unilaterally decided to undermine legal asylum. And have dubbed it as an open border policy and fed that buzz word to a low informed base who have no understanding of immigration laws. Trumps zero tolerance policy to separate children, Remain in Mexico, Title 42. All attempts to stop legal asylum under US laws that have been in place for over 40 years. Yet now using it to trigger a base that is now openly full of hate on immigrants and this hate is now fed by GOP governors feeding off of that for votes. This is to target votes from GOP supporters who immoral views support separating children as a deterrent, using lethal force, lying to immigrants to ship them to dem cities to stick it to libs, incarceration, placing them in the hands of traffickers. All because of immigrants who may or may not have violated a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. And the Right wing base just does not understand our law.

@tomr7222 Yes it's called context and facts your leadership doesn't add to there BS reporting. It's what keeps you low informed and completly ignorant. Would you like me to prove it? It is your TDS that keeps you defending tribaslistic rhetoric and propaganda, when all you know is a lie. And don't try and act as if you are informed you clearly are not, we both know that.
1
@tomr7222 The nonsese you believe. Kamala Harris isn't a border czar never has been. "$450k" payments to immigrants, due to Trumps seperation poliocy that violated immigration law and international treaty. Trump was flying immigrants in to US cities in the middle of the night. "Open border policy" is our asylum law 8 USC 1158, created about 40 years ago. "Catch and Release" is also part of that asylum law created 40 years ago. YOu are all easily manipulated by your media and leadership, and know nothing of our immigration laws and the process. And no the third country exception does not apply to Mexico.

Texas leading the way for creating their own problems against the border states and the rest of us by trying to close the border to legal asylum for 5 years. 2006-2017 southern border crossing decrease to the lowest point in 50 years. 2018 Zero tolerance = 2019 increase in unaccompanied minors coming to the border those apprehended are placed in asylum proceedings after 2021, 2018 Remain in Mexico = 2019 More crossing at check points now exposed to cartels and traffickers begin crossing between check points, 2019 record level of southern border crossing since 2006. 2020 Covid = reduces number of immigrants for 9 months. 2020 Tile 42 = Covid health order used to stop all immigration. Immigrants placed into expedited removal with no penalty, free to recross multiple times until successfully as a got away. The number of immigrants crossing who have been repeated crossings, increases over time as title 42 ages. inflating apprehension numbers with up to 40% of immigrants crossing multiple times. October 2020 border crossing are back to record monthly high for winter months going back 2 decades. it remains a record high for 5 months before Biden takes office at the end of January 2021.

they can request it, that doesn't mean it's granted or they qualify.

@H43339 "OK so just how many do you think we should let cross. 6 million have already crossed isn't that enough ? Are we going to let the entire population of South America come to North America ?" Yes you are pushing the same false narrative that anyone crossing or let in gets to stay. You are now conflating legal asylum with those trying to avoid detection. Many are detained and legaly they can be paroled or released, to wait out their court date. A very high rate show up, because most who have made it to the point of having a court date will show regardless of the false claims being spread on in right wing rhetoric and false claims made by Trump. My accusation were laid exactly where they should be, because all you know is propaganda and rhetoric when it comes to the border.
1
@H43339 The only difference now is that there are higher numbers of immigrants and a bottle neck created by the Right trying to undermine legal asylum.
