  2. Republicans want to keep title 42 in place. Title 42 suspends all title 8 laws and authority. The Right is using it to once again undermine legal asylum, 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border. That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing. All we can do is deport, and many re-cross again with no penalty in place. That causes our apprehension numbers to be inflated and the get away numbers to be inflated..

  3.  @coachduke9323  we gave been trying to enforce the law, the Right who are ignorant of those laws are keeping us from enforcing the border the way our laws intended . So much for reading comprehension and critical thinking.

What the Right calls an open border is our title 8 US code 1158 asylum law. Many countries have asylum laws that allow immigrants to cross there borders request asylum without penalty, it's article 31 of the Geneva Convention. And since many of these immigrants at the southern border are from counties in South and Central America they crossed many borders. Title 42 is what a true open border policy look like. Republicans have been fighting in court to keep it in place and lying about it's effect on immigration law and the process. They also want to legislate to keep it in place. Yes, Nogales. No, not a lot of travel beyond Canada and Mexico. Relevance?

  6.  @vickimeyers2672  They are understaffed because they are processing more and taken off the line. And there is not reason to be on the line when there is no deterrent for those crossing, due to title 42.
