  14.  @jeffb2456  yes you do eventually for most asylum, but for example unaccompanied minors do not. Just because an immigrant crosses the border doesn't mean they are asylum seekers or will later qualify. Currently under title 42 there are few who qualify, most are place in expedited removal. And under title 42 receive no penalty if they attempt to cross again.

  15.  @jeffb2456  With title 42 in place most are placed in expedited removal and do not get initial screening to see if they qualify for a court appearance for asylum. With our enforcement laws back in place we will be able to screen out more in initial interviews and those who do not qualify and are sent back now have to face jail time if they try and cross again. People are being released because the system is to overwhelmed without a legal deterrent and sheer numbers. When we have that control we will have an easier time to process those who do qualify and they can be detain them as required by law. Asylum seekers are able to be bonded and paroled if they have made it through the process and have a solid case in the initial interviews.
