  1. Title 42 suspends all title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right is using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border. That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers. We had a 17 year decline in southern border crossing to the lowest point in 50 years prior to Trump and his polices. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the southern border to 977,000 a 20 year high. He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 due to covid, before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.

  10. Start with us code 1158. That is our Asylum laws that allows immigrants to cross between check points and request Asylum. Then there is us code 1325 that makes crossing the border a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for non Asylum seekers, this law is currently not in use under title 42. Then there is article 31 of the ratified Geneva convention that states asylum seekers can not be penalized for crossing the border of a safe haven country. This is why our border is in no way like your home, fing idiot.

  11.  @loadabar  Irrelevant to our law. They still have a legal right to cross and make the request. Some will qualify and some will not, if not they are deported. That is why we have laws so the the ignorant right can't claim to know everyone of the back stories of every immigrant, and treat them all the same. You don't know the difference between legal and illegal, and you don't bother to learn as it's not the narrative of hate you want.

And there are some that meet the criteria for asylum. And since you have no fing clue what is going on or what your talking about.   13. With title 42 gone we will be able to enforce our immigration laws to the fullest. Title 42 has no legal deterrent or penalties and is not an immigration law. It does side step those title 8 laws and why the Right wants to use it to undermine asylum, but that also removes the ability to enforce deterrents in title 8.

What you call an open border policy is our asylum laws that has been in place for almost 50 years. There is nothing about sanctuary city status that is extreme. All it is is saying no we already pay federal taxes for federal officers to enforce immigration. We do not want local police involved in laws they can not enforce, and we don't want crimes not reported due to fear of immigration status. What is extreme is undermining laws that were working, causing this crisis, and blaming it on the current administration.
