It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.

Asylum is a law and the Right do not want it enforced and Biden is enforcing it, and the Right does not want to fund the process. The Rights unilateraly undermining that law for 5 years is what is causing this crisis.

But go ahead you were saying Biden should abuse his powers in office to use big government to punish US citizens for helping immigrants use our humanitarian laws and navagate around Right wing hardline policies being used to undermin our existing immigration laws, becasue you belive THEY are in violation of the law. Wouldn't it be easier not to vote for Trump who will ignore our laws and constitutional seperation of powers and insert a Right wing policy of hate and fear that caused this crisis?

@sixdollarman1362 Did it, becasue border crossings increased after remain in Mexico was created? It was forcing those who used a port of entry to waiti in Mexico. It was doing nothing for those crossing between check points. And by forcing those who were looking for humanitarian assistance to wait in Mexico that policy only increased the number that crossed between check points unwilling to wait for their hearing.

@tracybarhite1764 Not sure where you are getting your numbers, mine are from the CBP website and are correct. Apprehension numbers are calculated by the federal government’s fiscal calendar year. 2017 was under Obama's last fiscal budget and his policies. Trump did not create his border policy until the summer of 2018. 2016 was 553k. 2017 was 417k, 2018 was 521k, 2019 was 977k, 2020 was 458k, 2021 was 1.7 million, 2022 was 2.4 million, 2023 was 2.5 million.

@GML_123. Yes it was a clear message that Trumps policies were immoral and in violation of US immigration law and International treraty. So a review of those polcies was made to insure that immigrants were being processed as our laws state they are to be processed and not by Right wing policy to undermine legal asylum.

Due to false claims of voter fraud, asylee’s not showing up for court, criminal activity, and just right wing claims used to breed hate. The Right has unilaterally decided to undermine legal asylum. And have dubbed it as an open border policy and fed that buzz word to a right wing base who have no understanding of immigration laws. Trumps zero tolerance policy to separate children, Remain in Mexico, Title 42. All attempts to stop legal asylum under US laws that have been in place for over 40 years. Yet now using it to trigger a base that is now openly full of hate on immigrants and this hate is now fed by GOP governors feeding off of that for votes from GOP supporters who immoral views support separating children as a deterrent, use of lethal force, lying to immigrants to ship them to dem cities to stick it to libs, incarceration, placing them in the hands of traffickers. All because of immigrants who may or may not have violated a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. And the Right wing base just does not understand our law. Trumps immoral policies were violating US law by snatching children from legal asylum seeks as a deterrent. Harris was never appointed as border czar. There are no 85000 missing children and no they cannot use their drivers license to vote. The Right does nothing but lie.

Port of entry is irrelevant for asylum and it was easier to get an asylum claim heard under trumps hardlined policies by crossing between check points and making the request from there.

The Truth is this administration is following the law that was written 40 years ago and the right wing base is completely ignornat of those laws.
