  6. Steve helped to create Trumps child separation policy and forced title 42 in place that removed our legal penalty in our border laws to keep immigrants out. That is why half of those crossing had crossed multiple times.

My proximity to the border is not going to give me a different perspective on the real issues. You live at the border and have no clue what our laws are what the legal process is or how the Right is undermining our immigration laws.

You have never read a law and get all of your information from talking heads building falser narratives for the past decade on the border. We have immigration laws so by your definition no one should ever cross the border illegally. That is the Right flaws not a our. Border crossing were in a decline for a decade to the lowest point in 50 years. And that is why informed fiscal conservatives did not support Trumps rally call of a wall. We have asylum laws the Right believe they are a loophole in the law, so the Right decides to unilaterally undermine those laws and in the Rights arrogance and ignorance created this crisis. Instead of listening to moderate Republicans and Democrats who wanted bipartisan immigration reform.

Causing a backlog at our borders that overwhelmed border patrols ability to process them legally under our laws.

  26.  @gl2996  the zero tolerance policy that violated 8 USC 1158 and was used to charge legal asylum seekers with a crime and separate their children, who were later lost. This was done as a deterrent to others coming to the border. Remain in Mexico violated 8 USC 1125 and forced asylum seekers who passed a creditable fear interview to remain where cartels, traffickers, and other crimes had easy access to them. We had an increase in unaccompanied minors after those two policies. Title 42, forced in place by the administration, suspend title 8 enforcement at the border. Ending asylum and any legal immigration process under our treaty obligations, but it also suspended any legal deterrents and penalties for immigrant crossing the border. All we could do is place immigrants in expedited removal and the were free to recross multiple times without penalty. Overwhelming border patrols ability to do their job. Later after Biden took office, children and families with small children were allowed to resume asylum under title 42. It was still restricting most adults until this last summer.
