You mean she was correct he lied and you have no clue what they are talking about
3
@traceler ahe was annoyed with his constant lying about asylum process that is common knowledge for everyone except the low informed Right wing base. This clip is from 2018, try learning our laws.
3
@WascallyWabbity First you would have to have a clue what our laws are, so stop trying to sound smart when you don't have a clue wtf you are talking about. You are 6 years late to this conversation, without doing any research at all.
3
We had a 11 year decline in southern border crossing to the lowest point in 50 years prior to Trump and his polices. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the southern border to 977,000. He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 due to covid, before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.
3
Just another show for the Right to feed the base, nothing of importance ever discussed.

Title 42 suspended title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right was using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border. That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers.
3
@siennad587 why would anyone just listen and believe anything he said. Puppet
3
You mean adding context to the continued false claims and lies from the Right.
3
@algazac they are not missing. The governments responsibility to the children ends after they are transported family or a sponsor. After 30 days the government does a follow up call. The child and or sponsor is not required to return the call. Someone in the media decided to look at an unknown time frame take the percentage of failed contacts and then multiples that by an overall number of children taken into custody and came up with 85000 missing children.
3
With title 42 gone we will be able to enforce our immigration laws to the fullest. Title 42 has no legal deterrent or penalties and is not an immigration law. It does side step those title 8 laws and why the Right wants to use it to undermine asylum, but that also removes the ability to enforce deterrents in title 8.

That's all the Right has been trying to do for 5 years and you see how well that ended up.

@ifirespondiamstupid7750 What lie is that exactly?
3
@maryculbertson7349 What is a lie, please explain?
3
No we don't separate children from parents who follow laws, unless you are a republican.

@MrsKelly you don't see it because you choose not to read the law. You don't see it because you choose to believe the constant lies coming from your leadership about the border. Learn our laws and follow them.
3
@boondoggled1 Just because you can parrot your puppet masters doesn't make it true, learn our laws and follow them.
3
Good job GOP bringing up confidential information while they are still ongoing open investigating of the crime. Good job helping the Cartels.
3
@advrider9766 how about we use the word deficit. That fits the claim. Obama was handed a 1.4 trillion dollar deficit and left Trump a 666 billion dollar deficit. After Trump and Republicans spent like drunken socialist, what was the deficit in Trumps last budget? 2.8 trillion.
3
Peter does a good job at building a false narrative for the low informed on the Right who are clueless on actual facts.
3
@jefferygoines the laws we had were working just fine until the Right began to undermine them.

Without immigrants paying into social security. We would not be able to fund social security for Americans.
3
Learn how government works .
3
There should be and those consequences should be directed to the GOP.
3
Because states can not have their own foreign policy or administer it's own border policies.
3
@KeyboardComando No learn our laws o you dont seem to have any clue what they are or the process, you seem to be just making sh it up in your head. try reading something.

§1158. Asylum (a) Authority to apply for asylum (1) In general Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien's status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title...

Because this is civilian oversite and not Fox News, that should welcome and require context added to answers when the GOP ask questions filled with misinformation and lies. Only those who fear the truth require a yes or not answer.
3
And the answer is yes.
3
The question should be how is this different then any other information from a government department? Why is the Right afraid of facts in context? How is this different then Kirstjen Nielsen posting false information on the DHS website or giving a press briefing?
3
@hnewc1919 It's called being informed finding context that the right leaves out or lies about. I'm not sure why the Right wing base, who has no fing clue what our laws are, feel they can call others out on their claims. As if you have any clue.
3
@anothercomment3451 often. After redistricting my rep is a Republican and I have asked her several times and she has ignored those calls to follow asylum laws. While taking the time to respond her loyal followers thanking them for their support.

The first country exception is embedded in title 8 usc 1158. It has certain requirements for a country to qualify. There is no evidence of any country in this hemisphere that it applies to except Canada and the US. Federal judge appointed by Trump stopped the use of that exception under Trump 5 years ago, another federal court stopped Biden from using that exception in May of 2023 in his new policy after the removal of title 42. From 2020- mid 2023, title 8 authority was mostly suspended under title 42, including this exception under title 8 USC 1158.

So is anyone claiming the border is open or tries to compare our borders to someone's home.
