  1. That is exactly what Republicans did under Trump, and they want to continue. They failed to follow US code 1158, and they removed the process and infrastructure that decreased southern border crossing for 17 years to the lowest point in 50 years, prior to Trump and his policies. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the border to 977,000 a 20 year high. It was only reduced for the first 9 months of 2020. By October of 2020 border crossings were back to a 20 year monthly high and have remained and growing ever sense. The Right wants to bypass and undermine legal asylum.
