That policy was reversed in East Bay Sanctuary vs Trump. This was causing child detention centers to become overcrowded with poor health conditions and the Trump administration was missing the 72 hour deadline to turn children over to family services. Trumps remain in Mexico policy forced legal asylum seekers to stay in Mexico at the hands of cartels and traffickers, it also is a violation of 8 USC 1158 section 1225. Under title 42 Trump was sending unaccompanied minors back over the border, until that process was stopped under the Biden administration. Trump and the GOP have done nothing but lie about our immigration law in an attempt to undermine legal asylum with immoral policies that violated US immigration law and international treaty.
