Debby Downer That's citizenship not asylum. For asylum all I have to do is be in country and request it, after that I need to qualify. If I don't qualify I'm deported If I do qualify I get to stay there in country until my hearing. At least that's the law in the US I'm assuming Canada is the exact same as we have immigration treaties with them that we don't have with Mexico.

kissmyaass1 Trumps policies did no such thing. Trumps policies were a violation of US immigration law. Trump forced asylum seekers that came to ports of entry to wait in Mexico for their hearing. That is a violation of US asylum law and leaves them vulnerable to traffickers and cartels. Biden wanted to bring in those asylee, in compliance with the law and court order that stopped Trumps policy. Trump separated families at the border and that included legal asylum seekers, this was a violation of the law. What do you think happened after those two policies. Immigrants started sending children unaccompanied to the Border to avoid being arrested. Biden legally has to take the children in. All Biden did was say we are going back to following the law. If the Right wants to claim that following the law is causing this and Trumps departure from the law had nothing to do with it. Then that's your opinion, it's BS, but whatever you want to believe. Why don't you check on Trumps immigration numbers after being in office for over a year during his caravan and compare that to Biden's first 60 days. It will show you the Rights ignorance, hypocrisy, and fake outrage. Not to mention the spike in border crossings in the last 4 months of last year. Trump had the highest rate of people coming over the border in December and November last year compared with the last 10 year's for those two months.

Derka Derka only last year during when the virus started. 2019 he had over 100000 per month for 4 month. His first year had nothing to do with hom we were still under Obama's policy. We also had a 17 year decline before Trump and cut border crossings in half for 2007 to 2017. All before Trumps policies that violated 40 year old immigration laws that were working. Now Biden is correcting back to the law. This is the fallout of Trumps failure to follow policies that were working.

Derka Derka Trump started in 2017, yeah he was in office for 2 years before his monthly numbers started going to 100k a month for 4 months. Biden is in for 60 days and the Right criticizes on him having 100,000 last month after only increaing by 26,000 from the previous month of January. If you want something to complain about ask why the numbers started to increase in October and why Trump had the highest numbers in the months of November and December, in over the past 10 years. He instituted harsher punishments that were in violation of US immigration law. The immigrants were doing it the legal way, and for asylum it is not mandatory to use a port of entry. The Right see's that legal way as a loop hole they want to remove that's what his policy was doing. Trumps policy was in violation of the law not the immigrants. You have no idea what your talking about do your own research and stop listening to the talking heads.

@DarrellBeckford that is a completely ridiculous statement, 2019 had 977k apprehensions. With four months over 100k after Trump had been in office for two years. Apprehensions spiked last October from 58k to 72k, by January that increased to 78k. An increase of 20k. Biden was in the office for 60 days and saw in increase of 22k from January to February. In 2019 Trump apprehensions for November and December last year were the highest for those two months in the last ten year's. The surge happened months ago, what is happening now is that continued surge and the fact that this is the time of year we start seeing an increase. The Right is clueless about any facts in context.and willfully ignorant to learn those facts or the law, but you keep worrying about my grammatical errors while you ignore them from those in here from the Right that you agree with.

We have American citizens that are married to legal immigrants and because of that mix, neither have been eligible for previous stimulus checks. Same with legal citizens born here that had undocumented parents. Where have you been?

Asylum is legal, unaccompanied minors are legal. What happens when you violate asylum laws as Trump did, immigrants sent their children unaccompanied to avoid Trumps policy knowing we have to take them. This because immigrants in a third world country know our immigration laws better than the Right.

@christhornton1785 yes I watch several between her and Homan and with him and Al Green. Homan is twisting facts to defend Trumps policies not the law. He rattled of 8 US code 1325, but asylum seekers are exempt from that statue. They fall under 1158. A federal judge already ruled Trumps policy violated US law and international treaty, after that Trump removed his policy of separating all families crossing the border between check points. He did that without passing a law. So it's not mandatory as Homan claims.

That policy violated our 1980 INA laws. A federal judge ruled against that policy and Trump lost in appeal. Border number started to increase back in October. Shortly after Trump lost his court battles of immigration laws. As for the last two months this is the Right time of year for increased border traffic and in 2019 Trumps border numbers were much higher yet the Right remained silent. Trump violated asylum law's and related children and the Right remained silent. Nobody cares about the Rights crocodile tears for immigrants. Where were you guys for the past 4 years, heads in the sand or somewhere else?

This is one due to the fact it's February and the beginning of the immigration season, and Biden's February numbers are about 26,000 more then the Month of January that was at 78,000. Border crossing have been over 72,000 since October after jumping and extra 15,000 from the 57,000 in September. Where was the Right outrage then? In 2019 Trump went from 58k in Jan, to 76k in Feb, 103k in Mar, 109k in Apr, 144k in May, 104k in June, then started to decrease to 81k in July before normalizing again. You guys started to complain after Biden had 100,00 in his first 50 days. That was after correcting Trumps violation of the law that had more to cause this then Bidens correction back to the law Trump separated children at the border as a deterrent. and forces asylees to stay in Mexico for their hearing date. Both polices violated our INA laws, and both policies left immigrants vulnerable to traffickers and cartels.

How is Biden following immigration laws creating an invasion? Trump was ignoring immigration laws and created this mess. The only thing Biden promised is that we will be following laws passed by Congress and not continue with Trumps unilateral policy that violates the law. Border crossing numbers are lower then when Trumps caravan came and he was in office for a year. Bidens been in for less then 70 days. You guys have no understanding of what's happening and have bern hypocritical of Trumps handling of the border.

Biden is having a lot of unaccompanied minors, by law we have to take them in and care for them their are a set of separate policies for them. Biden was letting in Asylum seekers 300 a day (not sure if that's still happening) that were forced to wait in Mexico after coming to ports of entry and requesting asylum during Trumps administration. After they make the request we are supposed to keep them in country to wait for their hearing. Trump violated that law and a federal court stopped it. That went to the appeals court and was upheld, but the court put a stay on their order to give time to prepare for the increase. When Biden came in he discarded Trumps policy violations and went back to the policies that cut border crossings in half over the ten years prior to Trump taking office.
