@algazac they are not missing. The governments responsibility to the children ends after they are transported family or a sponsor. After 30 days the government does a follow up call. The child and or sponsor is not required to return the call. Someone in the media decided to look at an unknown time frame take the percentage of failed contacts and then multiples that by an overall number of children taken into custody and came up with 85000 missing children.

@bobearly3653 Due to false claims of voter fraud, asylee’s not showing up for court, criminal activity, and just right wing claims used to breed hate. The Right has unilaterally decided to undermine legal asylum. And have dubbed it as an open border policy and fed that buzz word to a right wing base who have no understanding of immigration laws. Trumps zero tolerance policy to separate children, Remain in Mexico, Title 42. All attempts to stop legal asylum under US laws that have been in place for over 40 years. Yet now using it to trigger a base that is now openly full of hate on immigrants and this hate is now fed by GOP governors feeding off of that for votes from GOP supporters who immoral views support separating children as a deterrent, use of lethal force, lying to immigrants to ship them to dem cities to stick it to libs, incarceration, placing them in the hands of traffickers. All because of immigrants who may or may not have violated a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. And the Right wing base just does not understand our law.

@whiteymcwhiterson3974 Since Trump's inhumane and immoral policies began snatching children from legal asylum seekers, remain in Mexico, and title 42 the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border has increased. The DHS has 72 hours to turn those children over to protective services who transfer those children to a family member or sponsor. Once that child is transferred it ends the governments responsibility to the children. The government makes a 30 day check up call that the child and or sponsor is not required to answer or return a call. During a period of a month a percentage of those calls went unanswered. A journalist decided to multiple that percentage by all children apprehended and came up with this number. Hawley is conflating that with other issues like children working underage without any evidence of a connection between the two. Creating a false narrative to feed a Right wing base who will believe it, because they want to. While they ignore the policies under Trump.

@@badger519 Are you ok with snatching children away from legal asylum seekers? Causing more children to be sent unaccompanied. Are you ok with leaving them in the hand s of cartels trafficker and other crimes by forcing asylum seekers to remain in Mexico. Border crossing increased after republicans hard line immigration policies that were in violation of US law, were used to unilaterally undermine our legal immigration process. Title 42 cut off asylum for everyone with the exception of unaccompanied minors that were coming in record numbers due to Trumps policies.
