  11.  @Tomas_Pita  To be fair apprehension numbers are calculated by the federal governments fiscal year. Trump can not take credit for 2017 that was a 50 year low after a 17 year decline. The increase in 2018 would be in line with normal border crossings considering the increase in number of immigrants. Trumps first immigration policies were in August of 2018,and 2019 is defiantly on him at 20 year high. 2020 low numbers were due to covid, but don't leave out that by October of 2020 monthly apprehension numbers were back to 20 year highs and have remained, under those failed policies. Just adding some context.

We had a 17 year decline in southern border crossing to the lowest point in 50 years prior to Trump and his polices. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the southern border to 9877,000 a 20 year high. He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies.

And asylum seekers can not be penalized from crossing the border of a safe haven country. 8 USC 1158 and article 31 of the Geneva Convention. You sound as misinformed of our laws as they are. what Biden has been doing is trying to get back to following our laws that were working before trump dismantled the process. On top of that there is an unprecedented number of people coming to the border.
