@sethsonny1165 Wrong, I love the way the Right wing talks out it's ass as if any of you know what you're talking about. US code 1325 makes it a CIVIL offense to cross the border illegally. The first offense is a penalty of deportation OR imprisonment for no longer then 6 months. As Blitzer said, this leaves border patrol the authority to choose depending on circumstances. As Blitzer said previous administrations had used the penalty of deportation with family units (assuming no other laws were being broken), in an effort to avoid separations. Under Trumps zero tolerance policy they are charging anyone that is violating 1325 with imprisonment to separate families as a deterrent and has caused a large number of displaced children to satisfy the assholes that support him. The bigger issue as discussed is that the zero tolerance policy was used to also separate and imprison legal asylum seekers. Under US code 1158 asylum seekers are allowed to cross the border between check points and request asylum. Trumps policy was in violation of this law and Homan continues to ignore this law and claims asylum seekers have to come to the port of entry. Federal courts have stopped this illegal policy. Wolf just wants to know what is to be gained by changing the policy that they know will cause more suffering for people that have suffered enough.

@JuniorWA He was twisting the truth by claiming that violating US code 1325 was a crime and it's a civil offense. He twisted the truth by claiming asylum seekers are in violation of that law if they do not come to a port of entry, this ignores US code 1158 that allows asylum seekers to come between ports of entry and request asylum yet still be legal. He claims that those people were still being charged with a crime and separated. Yes our immigration laws are clear and clearly through the courts, they have shown the policies by trump do not reflect the law put in place by congress.

@JuniorWA I didn't know that the American immigrating Council was in charge of writing and judiciary over our laws. I do know that Congress does write laws and the courts adjudicates. 1325 covers illegal entry, entry into marriage for the purpose of avoiding immigration laws, and commercial enterprises to avoid immigration. For the first part of that law illegal immigration it's a civil offense for the first act.

@JuniorWA for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under Title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under Title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both. (b) Improper time or place; civil penalties Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of-- (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or (2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection. Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.

Just like those who questioned Homan in Congress on this, Wolf is correct and Homan is twisting the truth. Congress was right too. This us a Trump policy that is in violation of the INA.

Homan is a liar. Homan knows damn well that 1325 allows for a civil offense with a penalty of deportation or an arrest for no longer then 6 months. Previous administrations chose deportation for family units to avoid family separations. Trumps administration is requiring to lock up and separate as a deterrent. Trumps policy is also treating legal asylum seekers as criminals and separating. That violates 1158. He is twisting the truth.

@JuniorWA I would rather that Trump not use a child and take that child away from its parents, as a political tool to pander to his base. I would rather use the policies from previous administrations that have worked to in the past that humanly handled previous border crisis without using hate and fear as a policy to reduce immigration. This policy had nothing to do with child safety or a need to enforce laws in place. We have an ability to use compassion for those fleeing violence or death in their countries and an asylum and immigration law to avoid the need for separations of family units while determination of the validity of their asylum claims. The zero tolerance policy was rescinded after the federal courts stopped much of the policy, and public outcry forced Trump to reverse what remained of his policy. If that policy was legal or worked to meet his goals there would be no need for him to rescind the policy. Homan continues to go from one network to another defending these policies that were in violation of US law. This video seems to be the only one that is attempting to expose the truth about these policies and the contrast from previous administrations. A quick Google search you can find East Bay Sanctuary vs. Trump that reverses Trumps policy that was being used to target legal asylum seekers, and you can find Homan defending that policy claiming these legal asylum seekers were in violation of US code 1325, because he was twisting the truth and ignoring US code 1158 that protects asylum seekers rights.

No it's not human. It's not the law. This is a Trump thug with polished talking points defending an illegal policy that violates the INA. A policy that no longer exist, because every thing Homan us saying is BS.
