Both are works of art, it's just that the author of “MONSTER” is a much more thoughtful and sensitive artist, so he crafted the better story. “Death Note” is a flawed masterpiece, “MONSTER” is a FLAWLESS magnum opus. “Death Note" is still pretty masterful though, it just lacks some of the artistic quality of Urasawa's work.
