  6. It's basially only symetry as to far as the outside is concerned. On the inside it mostly doesn't make sense to either have everything centered or in pairs to keep symmetry

  9. I'm assuming this "local peak" in biological evolution works the same way as it does in evolutionary algorithms. And because of those local peaks species often don't change at all if the environment doesn't pressure them to change but when the environment changes what's better gets reevaluated and change is better again. Many species are than too far away from where they need to be and die out
