If you look at it from a purely anti communist stance it does make sense in my opinion. Communism was seen as an increasing threat and letting a right wing party, which at the time wasn't seen as that bad, fight back against that seems not that bad of an idea. At the time Germany also "only" restored itself in territory. Add to that that the people still had a fresh memory of WW1 and didn't want to fight another war over territory they didn't really cared for. It's only horrible in hindsight. Given that England and France still were officially colonial powers letting Germany do that isn't exactly extra immoral
