  1.  @billschlafly4107  Democrats used to be slave owners, however the people voting democrats and Republicans switched at some point so the voter groups that used to vote democrats now vote Republicans and vice versa. I think the change happened somewhere around the New Deal. So it doesn't make sense to blame the democrats of today when those people are now in the republican party.
