Comments by "Fox" (@tomlxyz) on "Would Jesus Vote Republican or Democrat?" video.
The problem here would be that the US political system is quite different to pretty much any other country where you can vote. I've read news about the opinion of the clergy in different countries about various things and it can come in completely different way than the US. For example LGBT in the US is usually either good or bad. Meanwhile in other places LGBT might not been seen as a positive but at the same time tolerated by clergy. US politics is so prevalent online in the English speaking space that it creates the illusion that way of thinking is widespread when it's actually the minority

@thorpeaaron1110 there weren't parties back then but there were people getting together for a common goal

Why socially right wing? He hang around people that were deemed lesser by society and didn't talk down on them. The adaption of Christianity is where they put a more authoritarian, although benevolent twist on it to legitimate the empire but i can't see that in the bible

Now tell me you're not a centrist or you'll just confirming what the video says

This is a channel about religions and what people think of it, not study of history

Watch the video. It's quite insightful and probably not what you thought

It seems more like a political nuisance to the puppets they installed in the Temple

If you go by the Bible he might not support either but hating them would go against their teaching. Back then the Romans were also quite destructive and he didn't talk hate about them but rather talked about getting away from it in the afterlife

The purpose of the question isn't to answer what Jesus would actually think but what people think that Jesus thinks

Your comment doesn't make sense. "Americans don't care about republicans vs democrats because they're both American"
1
The idea of Jesus being American is very strong in a lot of American Christians

Where would the idea that Jesus is right wing come from if they're not already biased? If someone comes from a neutral viewpoint they'd realize that modern political points don't align with the way people thought back then

Didn't watch the video?

You're making an oversimplification here, ironically becoming cynical in your attitude
