The US government tries to outsource a lot of things to private companies to save money and while this usually makes sense there are certain areas where this creates perverse incentives that go against the interest of the public. For example, companies supplying weapons aren't interested in peace, privately run prison aren't interested in low crime rate or rehabilitation. It's basically the worst combination of public and private sector
