  1. tulsi already had a record of being a rightoid in politics and in private before she pretended to be a leftist and some including apparently emma believed her because she was broadcasting platitudes like a leftist... well, more of a centrist liberal really. her 2015 wedding was attended by the general secretary of the BJP, delivering congratulations and a gift from prime minister modi. she had publically met modi a year earlier on his visit to the US, and gifted him the copy of the hindu scripture bhagavad gita on which she had sworn her congressional oath of office. btw. modi had been banned from entering the US by congress a decade or so earlier, holding him responsible for instigating and aiding huge anti-muslim pogroms in his position as state governor - the ban became unenforcible when he became PM. speaking of toolsi, I wish american leftist pundits would finally look up what populism is, and discover that it's a communication strategy, not a policy platform.
