  1. in fact a lot of people would say that it's unacceptably unsafe to have a big pit bull-type dog around small kids like those when the dog sometimes doesn't recognize family members and growls at them. there's a whole movement of people who suck at dog communication/training, got a pit bull anyways, and then something happened where the dogs bit people and now, because they don't want to accept responsibility, the owners go around telling everybody that pit bulls are evil and "just snap" completely out of the blue and attack people and especially kids. I watched a BS "documentary" about that once, and one mother campaigning against pit bulls told a story of her own two pit bulls pulling her baby from her arms and attacking the baby, and her reaction was to run away and call for help... she didn't even realize what a bizarre dysfunctional relationship with her dogs that indicated, that a mother would be so scared of her own family's dogs that she would run away as they attacked her baby. it's so weird what sorts of relationships some people have with dogs, and then they think that they can judge that there's something wrong with the dogs...
