  1. it would make sense for many more people to adopt old dogs, given that many people aren't willing to provide enough physical exercise to a dog to meet a young dog's needs, and then get frustrated by hyperactive or destructive behaviour of the dog. old dogs match most people's lifestyle better. there are substantial downsides though, like the obviously shorter remaining lifespan (so if you keep adopting old dogs, you have way more deaths to deal with), and also the likely higher vet bills than in a dog's younger years.

  2. I think she got hurt once going up that particular set of stairs, so now she's very careful with that one even though the other stairs are identical.
