yeah, korean reunification is not going to happen. the comparison with germany is wishful thinking - east germany was nowhere near as insane a state, and the border was far more porous for information, culture etc.. the north korean people are almost all either extremely cut off from outside information and thus have no other option than to buy into the north korean reality, or willfully deluded like cult members. east germans practically all knew that they lived under a lying dictatorship, they just had moderate levels of acceptance of that fact and partially appreciated the socialistic benefits of relatively secure access to the most basic necessities (housing, employment, medicine, education). they were living much better than north koreans are, thus they didn't require so much deception. though east germany was one of the most dictatorial/stalinistic countries of the warsaw pact at the end, some thought control policies were still very routinely disregarded, such as the extremely widespread illegal consumption of west german radio broadcasts (from radio towers built extra big at the borxer for this purpose ;)). the widespread awareness of western news reporting made it obvious to everybody that the eastern state controlled media often lied or didn't report at all on certain events. north koreans have much less access to foreign information by which to judge what their government wants them to believe.
