  1. the only drones ukraine has that can strike farther than 50-100km into russia from ukraine are strizh. all drones that have attacked moscow so far were launched inside or near moscow. they are remote-controlled, very limited in transmission range, and far too small to fly hundreds of kilometers. this canard drone in particular that we have seen before is most likely a chinese consumer drone called foxtech REX 340. it has a wingspan of 3.4m, 12kg payload capacity, and most notably it is a hybrid gasoline-electric VTOL drone that uses a gasoline engine coupled to a pusher propeller for horizontal flight endurance, and a multicopter arrangement of electrically powered propellers for vertical takeoff and landing. ukraine uses it because it can deliver a relatively large payload over decent distances between 8 and 45km, while being extremely undemanding of takeoff locations (no runway or catapult needed). it functions as a bigger and longer range multicopter kamikaze drone. for these central moscow strikes, ukraine most likely made use of the vertical takeoff function to launch the drones from inside moscow. for the most part, those drones are not flying past air defense systems, they are driving past them.
