  1.  @danielfoster9782  jake used to work as a nuclear and missile operations officer for the air force, you'd think that he would have a more realistic general understanding of radiation incidents than he demonstrated in this video. I think his claim of all life in the mediterranean sea dying would probably need a release of radioactive material 4-10 orders of magnitude greater than chernobyl. even for the black sea, it would be multiple orders of magnitude. even all reactors at the ZNPP melting down would not release as much radiation as chernobyl, it would at worst be a couple times worse than fukushima. it wouldn't even manage to kill all aquatic life downstream in the dniepr- because to kill an ecosystem with ionizing radiation, you need an incredibly large amount. humans are concerned with much smaller amounts because we individually don't want to get sick, but ecosystems don't die when a small percentage of its organisms live a little shorter. to kill an ecosystem, you need to hit it with the sort of radiation exposure that causes acute radiation poisoning in humans, and many times more still with many other species. chernobyl did not produce red forests all over europe, it only produced one right next to the power plant.
