  2. that probably has todo with american ranchers traditionally having more land than they know what to do with, as opposed to farmers in moat of europe for example. you don't need to take care of the land if you've got so much that you don't need it to be optimally productive.

  4. I think that rope looks stiff enough to actually be a lasso. cowboys on horsebavk definitely still use lassos, though I think mostly for catching calves.
