she's not, she's definitely going to be killed for this in the next year or two.

yeah, I don't think that giving her name and showing her face was that relevant. they revealed that by taliban law, she is sheltering at least one fugitive (from a death sentence), that could easily be enough of a reason to search the place and identify all the women and girls there.

Krist N the taliban are generally ambivalent about whether women are people. they are legally treated much like livestock in a country without animal rights. the only way you could get in trouble for beating a woman is if she's not your wife or relative, and the man who owns her is upset that you damaged his property. during the last time the taliban governed the country, girls in many places weren't even seen as worthy of learning to read the quran, like women are not human enough to be muslims. thats emblematic of the level of disrespect these men have for women. of course it's also very convenient when women can't even protest against their abuse when it goes beyond what islam permits because they don't know the scripture.

yeah you definitely have your own dangerous islamists in bangladesh.

islam is only 1400 years old, not 2000.

what do you mean, "something like this"?

the last time they ruled, girls largely weren't even deemed worthy of learning to read the quran. they're pretty much undecided about whether women are people.

I don't think it's possible to make the taliban care about women, but I wish that all the taliban leaders could be forced to visit the hospitals' pediatric wards around them. they should not be proud of how they're governing afghanistan while so many children are starving.

your country decided to abandon these people because the public consensus in america was that the occupation of afghanistan was annoying. you rid yourself of a minor inconvenience, knowing that it would cause a catastrophe for 40 million afghans. trump made the withdrawal deal with the taliban at a time when the afghan government was losing the war even with NATO support. the afghan government was barred from the talks as a sign of disrespect from the taliban, and the deal for withdrawal included no demands for what the taliban would do in afghanistan, only that they would not attack america. america decided to leave without consulting its NATO allies. last august, every major european ally country involved in ISAF called on america to extend the kabul airlift that was saving almost 20.000 refugees in a day at its peak. biden refused, and america ended the kabul airlift almost 24 hours BEFORE the deadline the taliban had agreed to, leaving behind something like 10.000 more afghans just because they felt like it. vietnamization and the fall of saigon were glorious achievements of foreign politics and military genius compared to how america abandoned afghanistan. it's hard to imagine a more embarrassingly weak and dishonorable way for an empire to conduct itself.

by 2021, at least 20% of afghan military personnell including in combat roles should have been women.

why is that surprising? it's officially a theocracy.
