I'm sure you could find equally good clay somewhere else on the globe, you just wouldn't be able to market it as fully traditional.

Missouri mongoose I would guess that there are many different types of clay that impart different tastes to tea that different people may or may not like. if your clay isn't even dark like that, I would guess that it's quite different. but I would be surprised if this chinese clay was really substantively unique and there was no similar clay anywhere in the world (or better clay, it's unlikely that the best teapot clay is found in a traditional tea region). as far as I'm aware, clays are ancient silt deposits from rivers, and their composition mostly depends on the types of minerals the rivers passed over upstream. then you should find similar clay in deposits that were formed downstream of the same rock types that were upstream of where zisha clay is found.

RefiaPhenix I know that a replacement clay wouldn't be the same in terms of branding, I'm just saying that in terms of practical quality, it is likely that other equivalent clay sources could be found. they would probably be very difficult to sell at a high price unless they can be pased off as the real thing though.
