I think the biggest need for change is going to be in the certification process. as far as I know, those mRNA vaccines can be adapted very quickly to new variants (like a 1-2 month development time if not less?), and presumably existing production could be switched over immediately, but if it takes another 6+ months to allow the new vaccines to be used, that would be much too slow. I think the vaccines we're using now were mostly developed by february to april 2020, and then it took months to just do the testing.

  2. your answer to the question at the end failed to mention the biggest benefit of vaccinating people in one country with various different vaccines: it's the only way to get good data to compare the relative effectiveness of the different vaccines. you need to use different vaccines in the same parts of the same population that will be exposed to the same infection risks with future outbreaks. you can look up the different efficacy numbers of the covid vaccines from various countries, you'll see that the numbers for the same vaccine vary wildly between countries because of the different epidemic situation, behaviour, and other health factors between the populations of different countries. if the same vaccine is looking very different in different countries, you certainly can't compare the results of different vaccines from multiple countries to each other, so you need to use multiple vaccines in one country in order to compare the results of the vaccine types against each other.

  3. nobody asked for a hungarian opinion. ;) it is however entirely reasonable to give third shots of other vaccines to recipients of the chinese vaccines, because the chinese vaccines are almost worthless against delta or future worse variants. they only provide something like 20-35% protection.
