asbestos is unacceptable as a building material anywhere, because all buildings eventually will be demolished, and their materials disposed of or reused. the construction process also typically involves dusty cutting of asbestos, so workers inhale it not just during demolition, but also during construction. mine and factory workers, and people living near the mines, also suffer often severe impacts. and it endangers firefighters, who already risk enough without it.
