russia has been building its own internet infrastructure to be able to decouple from the western internet for years. now we see why. russia used to be significantly more free and democratic than china or belarus, but it's been backsliding for at least 10 years and is now taking huge leaps in that direction because oppression and deception is the only way for putin to hold on to power now with the war.
